After some time away, we're thrilled to announce that the Chloe Made Me Study podcast is back in action! Episode 155 marks a new beginning for us, as we return to our regular weekly schedule. Let's start this comeback with a reintroduction and a bit about what you can expect in the upcoming episodes. This one's a bit longer, but we hope you find it worth the read!

Who am I?

For those who are new here, I’m Chloe, a study skills expert and author from the lovely city of Bath, UK. I help adult learners integrate studying into their busy lives so they can graduate with their dream grades, study less, feel more confident, and have more fun along the way. I work online as a study skills and mindset coach with students from around the world in various disciplines.

What do I do?

Unlike subject-specific tutors, I focus on helping you develop core study skills like organizing your study schedule, devising effective reading and note-taking strategies, essay writing, exam preparation, motivation, discipline, and resilience. I also run a membership called the Kickbutt Students Club that offers accountability, community support, and virtual study sessions for students worldwide. I'm also proud to be a published author of “The Return to Study Handbook,” a resource aimed at adult learners. While it's available online, I have yet to see it in a physical store. If you ever spot it, please send me a photo!

My adult learning journey

Contrary to what you might think, I wasn't always a study guru. My journey was just as bumpy and full of challenges. Despite a love for learning and a knack for reading and writing, my teenage years were marked by setbacks and struggles. Predicted high grades for my GCSEs and A levels, I ended up facing personal and academic challenges that nearly saw me get kicked out of school.

Eventually, I found myself working in an office and realized I had a knack for learning new skills. Inspired by colleagues and an advert for the Open University, I took the plunge into a business degree. This time, I approached studying with a strategy, leveraging study skills and consistent reflection on what worked and what didn’t.

Myhard work paid off with a first-class degree, and I started sharing my techniques with others, including my sister, who also achieved a first-class degree thanks to these methods. That's when I realized my calling to help other adult learners.

Building my study skills business

From a blog, my venture grew into creating trainings, writing a book, and eventually making this my full-time job. For nearly six years now, I've been dedicated to teaching students effective study strategies and boosting their confidence.

The gaps in our education system

One of my missions is to address the gaps in our education system that don't teach effective study habits. Schools and universities often assume students will pick up these skills on their own, which isn't always the case. My approach involves pacing independent learning and including mindset management, a crucial aspect that’s often overlooked.

What to expect moving forward

The podcast will now release weekly episodes every Monday. You can expect practical, actionable advice tailored to help you kickstart your week with a new perspective or strategy to support your studies. We aim to keep it streamlined and valuable for your time.
